It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

Rosemount Development Trust (RDT) is delighted (for a 6th year) to bring some festive cheer to Royston, with installation and illumination of Christmas decorations on 20 lamp columns along Royston Road, and a Christmas Tree situated in the car park of Royston Primary School.
All of which is funded from RD’s Community Benefit Fund.

Date and Time of Switch On

Switch on of the lights and the Christmas Tree is Friday 1st December 2023 around 5.30pm.

This year RDT ran its first Christmas decoration design competition.
We received loads of amazing entries from pupils at both Royston and St Roch’s Primary Schools.
Our judges were super impressed by the number and quality of entries received but could only pick one winner and 2 runners up.

The winning entry was the ‘Christmas Pudding’ designed by St Roch’s Primary School pupil Jessica Afolabi.

The Christmas Pudding has been shaped into a pole mount decoration and will be showcased on Royston Road, along with our other festive decorations.

We also had 2 runners up, Jackson Harvie Royston Primary and Aiden Watt who is now at St Roch’s Secondary.

Thanks go to RDT Director Alan Brown and Caretaker Alex Anderson who presented the 3 pupils with a small gift voucher to thank them for their amazing designs.

Subject to funding availability RDT hopes to run this as an annual competition that will eventually showcase decorations along the main street of Royston that are all designed by primary school pupils attending either St Roch’s or Royston Primary.
